Maaike Hamer of Stelzner:

Europe: "Last year's heat resulted in great interest in EC measurement instruments"

Due to the long-lasting dryness and heat last year, it was often not possible for growers to water their plants as usual, some farms had to change their irrigation from rain to well or city water. Since the different water sources had different parameters, the fertilization had to be adjusted as well. This created a great deal of interest in measuring the EC value in the irrigation water, explains Maaike Hamer of Stelzner.

Controlling the uniform quality in potted plants has been the focus of commercial horticulture for years. In order to meet the demand for measuring technology, the German company Stelzner, based in Berlin and Thuringia, started to focus on producing measurement systems several years ago. "We produce robust, user-friendly measuring instruments to the latest technical standard."

One of their latest introductions is the MULTI 2000 combi unit. With this measurement instrument, the pH values (with pH glass penetration electrode), the salt content in the pot and the EC value in the irrigation water can be measured. The 4-wire carbon conductivity electrode of the MULTI 2000 results in a larger linear measuring range with high measuring accuracy of up to 200 mS / cm. The coal probe is robust against deposits and therefore perfect for horticulture.
