CAN (ON): The Sawaya Garden Trials are back

Sawaya Gardens holds an annual industry open house every year and in 2019 it will be held on Wednesday, July 24 from 8AM - 5PM.

More than 300 horticultural producers, breeders, buyers, wholesalers and marketers from across North America will attend. They are looking for leading-edge plants to watch and leading-edge plants to avoid.

Owner Mel Sawaya, a horticulturalist by training, estimates he has 3,750 different varieties on the premises.

Sawaya’s stock-in-trade involves growing new cultivars and preparing objective reports on their performance.

The industry wants to hear the verdict good or bad because it wants to know what to avoid and what to promote.

100% of all the plants being represented in these trials are donated to the Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe, Ontario.
