In December 2018, a tornado left a trail of destruction at Van der Wilt Gebera's. The following six months were all about repairing the greenhouse. That resulted in the replacement of 7,000 panes, 19 km of drainage gutters, 16,000 m2 of cultivation system, 110 km of wires, 16,000 m2 of screens, and 2,000 lamps were checked and cleaned. After six months, 190,000 pots were wetted, filled and put in the greenhouse. On May 27, the first new plants arrived, and on June 14, all 190,000 plants were in the greenhouse, making up a nice and colorful range of 38 varieties. On August 1, a number of varieties could be picked for the first time. Now, the whole 3.2 hectares are in full bloom again.
"It's been a hectic time in which we were busy repairing and building up the greenhouse and the crop", according to the grower. "Now we can focus on the future, which we will work hard on with our almost completely new team. We have a lot of nice varieties, which are all on our new poster."
"Together with the first flowers, the new truck from De Winter Logistics was also revealed, which is decorated with our logo and design."
