September 1-3, Cologne

EFSA and spoga+gafa focus on trends, innovations

EFSA, the European Floral and Lifestyle Product Suppliers Association announces the publication of the colour and style trends for the season Spring / Summer 2020. The official Trend Magazine will be launched at spoga+gafa, the garden fair taking place from September 1-3, 2019 in Cologne.

The trends in the new edition present inspiration based around four colour and style themes as forecasted by international partner Nelly Rodi Paris. Different scenes demonstrate how these themes can be brought to life via EFSA members’ latest product collections:

  • Family Fresh is modern and playful, a charming and relaxed family home, drenched in pastels and watercolours with geometric patterns and vintage references.
  • Cosmopolitan Cool gathers references from around the world, in Bohemian spaces filled with stylised ethnic influences, artisan finishes and exotic plants.
  • Divine Desert resembles a cool oasis in a dry and arid environment like Northern Africa and the Middle East, a contemporary habitat dominated by terracotta and dried natural fibres.
  • Super Shed reminds of a latino style island beach cabana, a paradisiacal universe, decorated in ethnic and gipsy chic with joyful colours.

The 44-page publication features also an extended editorial part with information about latest trends in the green retail, expert opinions about the future of garden centres and an exclusive interview with the French “vegetal star-designer” Alexis Tricoire.

The print edition will be available at the EFSA area in hall 10.1 where 17 EFSA Members are exhibiting their new collections, surrounding the EFSA Concept Store. Visitors of the trade show can get a personal copy of the magazine in one of the EFSA Lounges.

Concept Store
EFSA will also present a brand-new edition of their Concept Store at spoga+gafa. EFSA partners with spoga+gafain in this new project that is fully focusing on innovations in the green sector.

The forward-looking showcase features four selected themes that address highly relevant topics of today: Sustainability, Biodiversity, Technology and Food. In each section the visitor can discover and learn about new solutions and novelties concerning questions such as

  • how to reduce or re-use 50% of all our plastics in 2025?
  • how to protect useful insects in tomorrow’s world?
  • how can technology be applied in garden centres to help consumers choosing?
  • how can the consumption of meat be reduced and replaced by new commodities?

The section "Food innovations" for example, showcases a selection of two plant-based dishes and two dishes with completely new and innovative ingredients. Visitors are invited to do a food tasting followed by a degustation at the "Beer From Heaven Bar" where a delicious beer made from pure rainwater will be served.

“The idea around the new Concept Store is to invite the green retail to look at things in a different way”, says Frank Van der Heide, who has developed and realised the Concept Store idea for EFSA this time. “The consumer of the future expects retailers and suppliers to be connected in terms of what is being discussed, what is happening and what is being done in the field of innovations. At the Concept Store, green retailers will explore how they can get connected with their customers and become even more relevant for them.”

Stefan Lohrberg, Director spoga+gafa: “The partnership between spoga+gafa and EFSA has grown naturally in the past years. We both share the common goal to inspire our visitors and the market with fresh ideas and innovations. The EFSA Concept Store 2019 addresses topics that deal not only with business but also with a responsible approach to our resources, the central topic of our times. We are excited to co-present this impressive showcase again this year.“

The EFSA Concept Store is the centrepiece of the EFSA area located in Hall 10.1. It will be surrounded by a group of 16 EFSA Members who are exhibiting together on a total space of almost 3,000 square meters: Baltus, Brockytony, Capi Europe, Dijk Natural Collections, Edelman, Esschert Design, Eurosand, fleur ami, Hugrug, Lechuza, NDT International, Smiemans, Thermoflor, Ter Steege, Van der Leeden Mandwerk and Woodlodge. The Concept Store will also showcase many innovative ideas from these members.
