The story of the Infinity Rose series

Setting a new standard for mini pot roses

In 2012, Danish Rose breeder Rosa Eskelund of Roses Forever introduced her first pot rose in the Infinity Rose series and over the last 7 years, demand for these mini-roses grew quickly and is now one of her top-selling varieties all over the world. "The large flowers, the long shelf life, the short culture time and ability to fit in all kind of pots set a new standard for mini pot roses", says Rosa proudly.

Large flowers
One of the things that made the Infinity Rose such a remarkable mini rose was the big durable flower heads. "The flowers have a diameter of 7cm, more than 100 petals and a durability of more than 5 weeks", explains Rosa. "We were one of the first with such a mini-rose on the market back then, in 2012. It, therefore, attracted the attention of many. In addition, all roses in the Infinity Rose series can be outside, in pots and garden beds as well as inside. And the long shelf life of the entire plant made the consumers return."

Short culture
After starting cultivation and sales in Denmark, it was time to expand markets. "We received clients from all over the world and they were eager to trial the variety in their greenhouse. And it seemed that the roses could grow anywhere in the world and anywhere it has its short culture time, of only 10 weeks."

On top of that, there is the opportunity to buy start-up cuttings. "A new grower only needs cuttings to begin. Then, afterwards, he has his own cuttings to continue production. With the start-up cuttings, we normally fill up their greenhouses. It then only takes 5 weeks for the grower to produce its own cuttings. Not only energy-wise, it is an advantage, also more products can be produced on the same area as the culture time of the entire plant is only 10 weeks. So, many plants can be grown on a smaller area."

Infinity Roses are now produced on license, among others, in Japan, China, England, Denmark, Holland, Malaysia, Canada, Brazil and Norway.

Fits in all pots
Initially, the Infinity Roses was developed for a 10.5 cm pot, but it quickly turned out that the roses can be grown in both small and larger pots. "In the smaller pots, the Infinity rose is planted with one cutting in a 6cm pot. In the larger 8-9cm pots the roses are planted with 1-3 cuttings. And even in larger pots like 12cm or 15cm pots, they grow very well. For all pot sizes, it only takes 9-10 weeks in a greenhouse nursery to produce uniformed Infinity Roses in high quality "

Currently, the 10.5 cm and 12 cm pot sizes are the ones that are produced in the biggest amounts worldwide.

Infinity White

Lots of colours

The original Infinity rose was white, but since then six more colours have been added; Princess of Infinity (light pink), Pink Infinity (pink), Infinity Evergreen (green), Queen of Infinity (salmon), King of Infinity (burgundy), Jinfinity (Yellow) and Infinity Red (red). According to Rosa, this continuing development is also one of the reasons that the Infinity roses are a bestseller.

What occasion?
So for which occasion can these mini-roses be used? As the amount of colors available increased, the Infinity Rose can be used for any occasion, explains Rosa. "One 10 cm mini rose, for example, does very well for Mother's Day, but they are also very beautiful in the large 19-21cm bowls. Then, they can make the consumer's terrace even more attractive during the summer. On top of that, the larger pots are also a perfect hostess gift."
