FedEx presents Delivery Manager International in Colombia

FedEx Express was one of the key exhibitors at Proflora 2019. At the event, the company presented its most recent logistics and transportation solution to strengthen the floricultural sector in Colombia: FedEx Delivery Manager International.

The Colombian floricultural industry has positioned itself as one of the most robust in the world due to its technical capabilities and the quality of its products. On average, the country exports 2,254 tons of flowers per year, totaling approximately $1.5 billion USD in sales. At the local level, it generates 14 jobs per hectare, making it one of the largest employers in the agricultural sector with more than 140,000 formal jobs.

“As the industry has grown and strengthened, we have supported large and small Colombian flower producers by offering the possibility to connect to new markets,” said Eduardo Berrizbeitia, senior manager at FedEx Express Colombia. “Hence, the company has developed logistics solutions such as FedEx International Priority Direct Distribution, which starts the shipping process on the same day the flowers are cut. Now, we proudly highlight FedEx Delivery Manager International, an interactive e-commerce delivery service that allows retailers to provide additional flexibility to customers, who can customize the time and location of their deliveries, at no additional cost,” he added.

The company’s commitment to the flower industry is underscored by its Miami – Bogota – Medellin – Miami route, which operates six times a week and facilitates the arrival of Colombian products, flowers in particular, to the U.S. In collaboration with event organizer Asocolflores, the company’s goal for Proflora 2019 is to bring Colombian flower producers the FedEx Express experience for the transportation of perishables, providing them with innovative solutions and a greater competitive advantage to reach markets and customers worldwide.
