Gasa needs to pay former director Jon Smits 550,000 euros

A financial windfall for former director of GASA Group Holland Jon Smits. Several years ago, he was fired because of losses made by the company - which is the Dutch division of Danish international trading company GASA Group. According to the company, it was his fault, but according to the Dutch court, it is not. He cannot be blamed; losses that were made came from usual company risks and not from wrong decisions on his part.

To make a long story short, summing up all missed payments and bonuses and indemnification, GASA needs to pay 550,000 euros. Whether GASA will pay the actual amount or submit an appeal to the Council of State is currently being considered.

A Dutch broadcaster dove deeper into the subject and the full article (in Dutch) can be read here.
