Turkish export goal for cut flowers and ornamental plants is set as 125 million USD for 2019

Turkish floriculture industry had increased its exports by 17 % in 2018 and reached 100 million USD in export revenues and this year the industry has set its targets even higher at 125 million USD. According to the statement released from Cut Flowers and Ornamental Plants Exporters Association, Turkish growers have exported a total of 74 million USD worth of products within the first 8 months of 2019.

The Netherlands was the top export destination for Turkish flowers and plants, followed by Germany, Uzbekistan, United Kingdom, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Georgia, Kazakhistan and Bulgaria. The exports to the Netherlands and Germany have increased by 14 % in the first 8 months of 2019 compared to the same period of 2018. Furthermore, exports to Turkmenistan and Iraq have risen up significantly by 126 % and 27 % respectively. Plant exports have increased by 3 % in value and reached 44.1 million USD.
