In order to prevent quick withering of flowers, Kendal Floral LLC, a US flower importer and distributor, installed the air cleaning technology 'Bio Turbo' in 2018 and since then, they have seen waste reduced by more than 50 percent in certain flowers. For this reason, they decided to equip more of their facilities with this system.
Kendal Floral moves around 300 million flowers per year (which arrived daily at their facilities) and delivers them throughout the West Coast.

Bio Turbo is made to effectively remove ethylene gas and therefore (to prevent premature ripening. "It uses a patented four-stage air purification process which effectively removes ethylene and 99.5% of airborne bacteria. Although Bio Turbo technology uses Ozone in one of its four stages to destroy ethylene and airborne pathogens, ozone is never released into the cold room. This makes Bio Turbo technology completely safe for humans, thus creating a better and safer work environment", explains Oleg Kuts, Marketing Team Manager from Miatech, a company that manufactures Bio Turbo.
50% less waste
Kendal Floral installed this system at their Monterey Bay Bouquet facility in 2018 and due to the satisfying results, recently they installed it in their main facility in Canby, Oregon. “Tracking the efficiency of the system we have noticed a reduction of waste in certain flowers from 9% down to 4%. Seeing an opportunity to cut the waste, we decided to equip coolers in our main Kendal Floral facility in Canby, Oregon with 4 Bio Turbo 6000 units.” says Roberto Ante, Quality Director from KENDAL FLORAL LLC.
