US (PA): Longwood Gardens appoints James C. Collins, Jr. to Board of Trustees

Longwood Gardens announced the appointment of James C. Collins, Jr., Chief Executive Officer of Corteva Agriscience, to its Board of Trustees. The appointment is effective January 1, 2020.

“We are extremely fortunate to have Jim joining Longwood’s Board of Trustees,” said Longwood Gardens President & CEO Paul B. Redman. “His extensive expertise in the agriculture industry, including bringing innovative, science-based products to market that have helped advance the industry, coupled with his passion for our mission make him an outstanding addition to our Board.”

“As Longwood plans for the future, Jim’s wealth of experience and his global perspective will be invaluable assets to achieving our goals and ensuring that Longwood continues to thrive,” said Longwood Gardens Board of Trustees Chair Jane G. Pepper.

“I am honored to join the Longwood Gardens Board of Trustees,” said Jim Collins, CEO of Corteva Agriscience. “Longwood holds such a special place to so many people, and the rich history and mission of the gardens is something I look forward to working with the rest of the Trustees to build on so that many more children and adults learn to love Longwood.”

Prior to becoming Chief Executive Officer of Corteva Agriscience, Collins was previously Chief Operating Officer for the Agriculture Division of DowDuPont. Prior to the DowDuPont merger, he was an Executive Vice President at DuPont responsible for the company’s Agriculture segment, including DuPont Crop Protection and DuPont Pioneer.

Over the past year, Collins has led the integration efforts of the division, launching Corteva Agriscience into a leading agriculture business offering a comprehensive, balanced and diverse seed, crop protection and digital service solutions portfolio.

Collins joined DuPont in 1984. His work in the Agriculture segment began about 35 years ago, as a sales representative and product manager, and he subsequently served in a variety of roles supporting DuPont’s seed and crop protection businesses around the world. Prior to leading the Agriculture segment, Collins led two of DuPont’s other large business segments, Performance Materials and Electronics & Communications.

Collins has a bachelor’s degree of science in Chemical Engineering from Christian Brothers College and received his MBA from the University of Delaware.
