Turkey: Phalaenopsis, terrariums the most popular items for Teacher’s Day

Florists all around Turkey experienced the first busy day of the season with the Teacher’s Day. Celebrated every year on November 24th, students run to the gift shops and florists to purchase presents for their teachers on this special day.

Most of the students preferred terrariums custom made by the florists as their present. Terrariums have been one of the most popular items in Turkey in the most recent years and its popularity has not started to decline yet. The popularity of the terrariums on the Teacher’s Day is followed by the phalaenopsis which is by far the most popular ornamental plant in Turkey throughout the year. Students who preferred purchasing cut flowers for their teachers preferred mono bouquets of carnations and roses. Furthermore, violet baskets were also among the most popular items this year on Teacher’s Day.

Now with the completion of the Teacher’s Day, florists are waiting for the expected increase in demand with the Christmas season and New Year’s Eve.
