Jens Bjørn Andersen is Air Cargo Executive of the Year

“Andersen’s leadership of DSV through its acquisition of and merger with Panalpina led the readers and editors of Air Cargo World to recognize him as the Air Cargo Executive of the Year for 2019.” So begins Air Cargo World’s article showcasing this year’s Air Cargo Executive of the Year.

In the article, he credits his own career success as “a combination of hard work, of being in the right place at the right time, and some luck.”

He also stresses the company culture of internal recruitment and advancement, which in time gave him the opportunity to make it all the way to the top. He adds that this type of promotion encourages loyalty and “generates ambition for the next generation to work hard… If they know the day my boss retires, it’s going to be one of us.”

Broaden your horizon
When it comes to career advice, Andersen says in the article that in DSV Panalpina geographical mobility is encouraged: He explains: “I think it’s one of the best things you can do for yourself and your family to take some years in another environment than the one you’re used to, go to a new country. Seeing how life in a different country works always makes you reflect on your own country and think about what may be good or bad.”
