Growers in Izmir, Turkey develop a project to increase ornamental plant and seedling trade in the district

Odemis Chamber of Commerce Chairman Rifat Eris: “The project to increase the export potential and capacity of the ornamental plant production in the district of Odemis is underway. The project is carried out by our association and the first step of the project was a series of training seminars which were attended by the ornamental plant growers. Through these training courses, we were able to identify the points of improvement for our growers.

Now in the second step of the project, as requested by the growers, we will be bringing in purchasing delegations from abroad to visit our growers and their greenhouses. After this request, we have explored all the potential markets and decided to bring in first purchasing delegations and teams from all Turkic countries into our district. 34 buyers from 28 different companies will visit the ornamental plant greenhouses of the growers participating in the project. The buyers are from countries such as Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan. The visit includes face-to-face meetings of growers with buyers. Our goal is to create business through this introduction trip and thereby increasing the exports from our district.”
