Van den Berk opens nursery in the UK

After the establishment of BALI Registered Affiliate member Van den Berk in 2019, Van den Berk now announces the establishment of a nursery in the UK. The decision for their own location in the UK was made because of a strong demand from clients and specifiers for their specimen trees and to provide a quality service throughout the year, Van den Berk contracted a plot in Mirfield, just off the M62 and M1 junctions, a central place to service the entire UK within a day by road.

The nursery will be a shop window for high quality, specialist trees, produced in the 450 ha nursery in The Netherlands and will have facilities for growing trees in air-pots and containers. The new location will also provide capacity to quarantine trees to serve the best biosecurity practices. Van den Berk made biosecurity a top priority and their policies and accreditations go beyond the industry requirements. The horticultural practices are freely available to download.

Tom Owen, Van den Berk’s horticulturalist representative within the UK, can supply information on biosecurity protocol, UK legislation and specific requirements across any landscape or garden design based scheme.

The preparatory work in Mirfield is in full swing and from mid-March the nursery can be visited by appointment.
