Washing 1125 polystyrene trays per hour

Is it possible to wash and clean polystyrene trays? Yes, a Dutch grower of plant material for lisianthus has discovered that it can be washed. The grower was used to outsourcing the washing of the trays, but after purchasing a washing installation, the grower now cleans 1125 trays per hour and makes them algae-free.

The washing installation is developed by Unifortes and is built at the grower's premises, with automation for the rest of the process by Visser Horti Systems. "Because removing algae from polystyrene trays is not easy, we first carried out extensive tests and then modified the standard washing installation to make it more effective in use in this specific case."

And both the grower and Unifortes succeeded, as shown in the video below, which also shows how the trays are automatically stacked and de-stacked.
