It is with great sadness that we share the news Dr. Gerardo Mercurio passed away on May 4.
For 25 years Gerardo worked for Schreurs as agent for both gerbera and rose in the areas Napels and Rome. He was widely respected for his knowledge of cultivation, which he was always happy to share with the growers. In close cooperation with Schreurs Gerardo travelled all over the world to visit growers in all possible climates and circumstances for realizing widely acclaimed books about both gerbera and rose. Both books are considered to be the standard for growers worldwide. His book “cut rose cultivation around the world” (second edition 2010) is still very popular among rose growers all over the world.
Gerardo was an inspiration for young people (teaching & coaching), growers worldwide and his colleagues at Schreurs, he will be deeply missed.
