Westland Horti Tours slowly starting up again

It should not come as a surprise that with the corona crisis, the activities of Westland Horti Tours also ceased abruptly. Now that the growers are getting to work again, it is also time for Aad Verduijn, the man behind the greenhouse horticultural promotion company, to get started again. The first cautious visits to companies have been made again and an online tour has been put together.

"With more than half of the visitors to Dutch greenhouse horticulture companies in recent years coming from Asia, I had no other option but to wait and see," says Aad, who celebrated the company's fifth anniversary on April 1st. "In 2019 I showed more than 4,000 visitors around and for this year I expect less than ten percent of that number."

Online in the greenhouse
But Aad is enthusiastic and keeps on working. As soon as it was possible again and the growers had gotten over the worst of corona, he was back in the greenhouse. Not with visitors, but to make a film, an online tour.

In it, Aad takes the viewer along into the greenhouse at Leen Middelburg Chrysanten, complete with subtitles and the enthusiastic explanation of the cultivation and processing works that they are used to from Aad.

During filming of the video, it can be seen clearly, the entire greenhouse at LMC was completely planted again. During the corona crisis the planting cycle - new plantings 5-6 times a year - was temporarily interrupted. Just like Aad's tours, the market completely collapsed due to logistical problems and the closure of borders and thus sales markets.

The situation for the growers is now recovering. Fortunately, Westland Horti Tours is also optimistic about the future again.
