Webinar on Sep 28 12:00 PM - Zoom

Peat free horticulture - why and how?

Political and commercial pressures are increasing to cease the use of peat for horticulture crop production. Defra is due to publish its peat strategy later in 2020, which may precipitate further measures if the industry fails to move closer to the 2030 zero peat use target for commercial horticulture.

This webinar will focus on the transition to peat free growing in containerised crop production systems. The webinar will discuss growing media model development, application including mechanisation to a range of crop systems and the results from 5 years of commercial trials on growing holdings.

The talk will also signpost the commercial development of the work and how growers and growing media manufacturers can access the new ADAS Growing Media service to create high performing growing media mixes at least cost.
