On Thursday 8 October 2020, Keukenhof’s gardeners planted the first flower bulbs in the park. At a famous spot in Keukenhof: the historic windmill. This is the kickoff of planting seven million flower bulbs in Keukenhof.
2020 was an exceptional year for Keukenhof. Visitors couldn’t come to the park due to the Covid-19 measures. Keukenhof was open online and videos replaced seeing the blooming park in real life.
In 2021, Keukenhof will have to deal with an adjusted method due to the Corona measures. The park expects only 50% of the number of visitors who visited Keukenhof in 2019. The flower exhibition will open its gates to visitors for the 72nd time on 20 March 2021. Eight weeks later, on 9 May 2021, 800,000 people are expected to have visited the flower exhibition. Keukenhof thereby provides a major contribution to both the tourist and flower sectors in the Netherlands. 100 bulb growers supply bulbs to Keukenhof and 600 growers participate in the flower shows.

Those who want a colourful garden or balcony in the spring should get started now. Buy your flower bulbs and plant them before mid-December. You can sort them per colour, per species, but a nice mix of colours and species also works beautifully in the spring.
In 2021, Keukenhof will be open from 20 March – 9 May.
