Spain: three decades of GuíaVerde

GuíaVerde, a directory of companies and products of ornamental horticulture in Spain and Portugal, celebrates its 30th aniversary. This publication, formerly known as Cosagro, years ago transcended the paper format to become today the meeting point on the Internet for professionals in the sector, where every day they can check the latest products in the market presented and all the news of the sector.

The GuíaVerde printed directory is made up of two publications: The Buyer's Guide - Top Companies, which includes the main horticultural, home-gardening companies and their auxiliary industry, and The Sales Points and Gardening Services Guide. The first one is distributed free of charge at fairs throughout Europe and is also sent to the most prominent companies in the sector.

In its digital version, GuíaVerde.com, companies in Spain and Portugal can show their products, videos, news, as well as make business contacts. Thus, this website is much more than a directory, as it also offers all the latest news of the market, technical data sheets of plants or the calendar of events in the sector.

Informational reference in 2020
During the past year 2020, the GuíaVerde team has invested all its energy to offer daily information about the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic effects on the ornamental sector. From the very beginning, the steps taken by the Government of Spain, and the different regional governments, were informed on its website, and Spanish, European and Latin American companies and associations were given voice to get to know the scope of this unexpected crisis.

GuíaVerde even promoted a macro-survey in which the different agents of the sector were asked about the incidence of the pandemic and participated in the production and holding of round tables on this matter in the digital version of Iberflora, the most important fair of the sector in the country. This commitment to the sector has been recognized with a record of almost 2 million visits to web pages during 2020, thus reinforcing its position as a portal in the sector. Added to this figure are their communities on social networks with almost 16,000 followers and an informative alerts service on WhatsApp.
