Week 24 is normally marked in everybody’s calendar as the week of the FlowerTrials. But as this year’s FlowerTrials took place online, Selecta still wanted to give their clients the opportunity to see their assortment live. That is why Selecta Holland organized Open Days form the 15th until the 18th of June in the newly build greenhouse of Bolk Plants in Haaften.
"During the Open Days we not only showed our complete spring annual assortment and some highlights like Trixi® and Osteospermum FlowerPower®, but also our new varieties like new members of the SKYfamily Petunias, Dianthus I♥U, Verbena Drums® and Mr. LavaLava®."
Dianthus
Of course, the well-known Pink Kisses was exhibited. And also Peach Party, Early Love, Purple Wedding and Scully. "For the first time we could show our clients Dianthus I♥U at a trade show. This pot carnation with double flowers and wavy edges changes its colours from pink, to light pink and finally to white. This variety also has compact growth and a rounded appearance. I♥U accompanies with a bright and bold graffiti style of an exploding blossom and cool lettering in front of an exciting background – a message in urban lifestyle – absolutely hip, young and the embodiment of a modern proof of love."
Verbena Drums
Their new Verbena series Drums really impressed our visitors. "Not only were they convinced by the different bright colours, but also the easiness of this series: No pinching and virtually no inhibitors are required. Early-blooming and compact, highly productive per unit of land, strong POS presence, excellent flowering continuity in the home – “Drums – take the lead!”."
Verbena Mr. LavaLava
Also the bright orange-red flower colour of this new Verbena caught the eye of many visitors. "Mr. LavaLava convinces with its earliness and wide branching. Its growth is flat and creeping, making it ideal for covering areas and as a ground cover. But it also fits to hanging baskets. It can be combined in many ways and always stands out with its unique flower colour and strong signal effect. For the consumer, it has a continuous flowering period without a summer break. A unique appearance and therefore a real highlight."
The Open Days were a great success, they say. "We were happy to talk with some of our clients in person while presenting our varieties. But of course, we really hope to welcome all customers next year during the FlowerTrials 2022. "
