Who will succeed Anthura?

In January 2020, Anthura won the coveted ‘Gold Rose’ award, presented by Royal FloraHolland CEO, Steven van Schilfgaarde, at the AIPH IGOTY Awards Ceremony at IPM Essen, Germany. The breeder was also awarded Gold in the ‘Young Plants’ category and Gold in the ‘Sustainability' category. Iwan van der Knaap, Anthura’s Director, said: “Winning the Gold Rose Award and the Sustainability Award was significant recognition for Anthura as well as for the entire horticultural sector. Especially the international confirmation that we are on the right track as a company is very valuable to us.”

Based in the Netherlands, Anthura is known as a worldwide specialist in anthuriums and orchids. As a breeder and propagator, this organization is continually working to develop new techniques, stimulate entrepreneurship and make the process chain more sustainable.

Iwan added: “We are very proud and that feeling can still be felt throughout the organization after more than a year. This prestigious prize stimulates us to continue to make the world more beautiful and sustainable together with our partners.”

Candidates can enter the IGOTY Awards 2022 online and entry closes on Friday 10th September 2021. Judging will then take place by a panel of industry experts who will assess the entrants on five key criteria; economic performance, innovation, market insight, sustainability, and human resources policy. From the entries, a shortlist will be selected.

Established by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) in partnership with FloraCulture International, the IGOTY Awards have been championing outstanding achievements in the ornamentals sector since 2009. Supported by Headline Partner, Royal FloraHolland, they recognize best practices in horticultural production by the top ornamental production nurseries from around the globe, celebrating the expertise and energy they give to horticulture. The awards also stimulate and promote best practices by giving global attention to outstanding producers and promoting knowledge throughout the industry.
