Growth, flowering, and bulb production of tuberose influenced by NPK-combinations

An experiment was carried out at Research Farm, Narendra Deva University of Agriculture & Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad during the year 1998-99. The effect of 18 treatment combinations with three levels each of N (10g, 20g, and 30g/m 2), three levels of P2O5 (10g, 20g, and 30g/m 2), and two levels of K @ 10g, 20g/m 2 and one zero levels (Control) was assessed on growth, flowering and bulb production of Tuberose (Polianthes tuberose L.) cv. Double in Factorial Randomized Design with three replications.

The lowest time taken to sprouting (30.50 days) was registered in treatment combination N3P3K2 (30:30:20g/m 2), however the highest of it was with N1P2K1. The highest values for other growth parameters viz., number of sprouts per bulb (6.99), number of leaves (62.99), leaf length (57.78cm) were measured in N3P3K2 and plant height (93.75 cm) was also found maximum in treatment N3P3K1 (30:30:10g/m 2).

Minimum days taken to initiation of the spike (91.79 days), minimum days taken to open first floret (108.00), the maximum length of spike (50.33 cm), maximum length of rachis (40.08 cm), maximum no. of floret/spike (34.54) and maximum no. of spikes/clump (1.91) were recorded in N2P2K2 i.e. application of 20:20:20 g/m 2.
