New chief executive appointed at World Horti Center

Since 1 September 2021, Puck van Holsteijn has been chief executive of World Horti Center. As director of their partner HortiHeroes, Puck is familiar with the building and its organization. "The potential is enormous,” according to Puck. "In the near future, we will once more show that a visit to WHC is interesting, fun, and inspiring for all. It's a wonderful task to make sure this all runs smoothly."

Puck succeeded Joep Hendricks, and has taken over the duties of interim chief executive Hans Kleijwegt. "It’s important to first start or complete a number of ongoing projects, some of which have been running for some time. This will allow us to demonstrate to the public that World Horti Center is the clubhouse of the Food & Flower Industry, where work is continuously carried out on developing and promoting knowledge and innovation. This concerns knowledge and innovation possessed by our participants and talents, and which is deployed in the horticultural sector on a daily basis," says Puck. "For a company that relies on visitors, the COVID-19 period has been a challenge. We’ve used this period to take the first steps in transforming WHC from purely informative stands to a more interactive experience via theme squares and a new stand layout. The first important steps have been taken, and we will remain highly dynamic in order to stay at the forefront with our participants. Together, we’re creating a springboard for further growth."

Alongside her work for World Horti Center, Puck will remain active in her current position as chief executive of HortiHeroes. Hans Kleijwegt will remain involved as project manager, and support Puck during the initial period. “What I really appreciate is the very experienced and committed team at World Horti Center, which forms a solid base on which I can build," concludes Puck. "Together with our participants and partners, we will continue to develop World Horti Center in the coming period. I'm really looking forward to it."
