The Modern Garden: looking at the future of gardening

The Modern Garden is a conference for professional horticulturists which looks to the future of gardens and gardening. It also celebrates 25 years of PlantNetwork by focusing on the next 25 years. With sessions addressing innovations in gardening, sustainable gardens, ecosystem services, multifunctionality, the role of traditional skills in the gardens of the future, plant health issues, and planting for a changing climate, the conference addresses some of the challenges and opportunities faced by horticulturists gardening in designed landscapes.

It is not just about hearing from speakers, but also about networking and discussing topics in an interactive online environment. The Rewriting the Rules workshop will invite delegates to explore why we garden in certain ways and whether current gardening practices are fit for purpose in the modern world. The conference also includes informal networking between the conference sessions and a high-energy closing session which will hear from a variety of different initiatives before closing with an expert panel discussion looking at Gardening in 2046.

Early-bird registration closes on 14th November for the conference which starts on 24th November and runs across four afternoons, on 25th November, 1st December, and 2nd December. With various ticketing options available from full conference attendance to day tickets, it is a conference to suit different working arrangements, availabilities, and interests. There is even a group rate available for colleagues planning on watching the conference together. All delegates will have the opportunity to watch the sessions again too.
