Hoffman Nursery hires David Derreberry as Inventory Supervisor. The position is new, and "we knew Derreberry’s range of experience in management, logistics, customer service, and fleet operations would be a perfect fit. He will be working closely with members of the Logistics, Production, and Growing teams to monitor and direct the flow of inventory information across the nursery. He will also be pivotal in helping the Sales team meet customers’ needs," the management team stated.
Derreberry will work initially on refining processes to ensure the nursery’s inventory is accurate and meets projected needs. He will perform physical inventories with team members and ensure crop transfers between departments are smooth and accurate. It is also his job to make sure inventory is maintained at optimum levels. He will finetune product timelines so plants are there when the nursery’s customers need them. Coordinating across multiple departments requires good organizational, communication, and people skills. Derreberry polished these skills while working for sports organizations like the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Sports Leagues. He also held positions with logistics-oriented companies DHL and MedSpeed, where he did everything from managing a vehicle fleet to coordinating complex delivery schedules.

David will supervise our current inventory control specialist and make the connections with all the nursery teams involved. His overseeing the process will make for smoother, more accurate inventory transactions and improved customer service.”
Derreberry joined the nursery in October 2021, and he has already brought improvements to the inventory process.
