Van Vliet New Plants and Hungarian university sign cooperation agreement

Aiming to expand the portfolio of new perennials, Van Vliet New Plants and the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) recently reached an exclusive cooperation agreement.

Van Vliet New Plants will trial, introduce, manage and market all-new perennial varieties which are developed by MATE University.

MATE University is one of the largest agricultural-focused, multi-disciplinary higher education institutions in Europe. Budapest, Gödöllő, Gyöngyös, Kaposvár and Keszthely Campuses offer constantly renewed degree and training programs and make significant investments in order to strengthen their ties to international higher education. MATE develops new varieties of perennials with a team of enthusiastic breeders. The varieties are bred in the Hungarian climate and are therefore hardier to drought, frost, and pests and diseases.

Zwier Nooteboom, account manager Van Vliet New Plants: ‘We are happy with this cooperation and we strongly believe that there is a good market for strong and healthy varieties of perennials which are easier to grow."
