Salisbury greenhouse steps up to support Ukraine

To honor its Ukrainian roots as well as support its own Ukrainian staff and the broader Albertan-Ukrainian community, Salisbury Greenhouse is stepping up to help with aid for Ukraine. Both greenhouse locations — Sherwood Park (52337 Range Road 232, just south of Wye Road) and St. Albert — are collecting medical supplies and selling sunflowers to help those in Ukraine.

“It’s really important for us that we do our part, whatever we can, to bring them safety, health, comfort, and peace,” said Drew Walker, Salisbury Greenhouse’s community relations manager.

“It’s been a beautiful thing to see how the world is coming together to support Ukraine. For us, Ukrainians helped build Salisbury, so it hits close to home for a lot of the people who work with Salisbury,” she said, adding that the company’s founders, The Sproules, had Ukrainian heritage.

“It’s been really helpful having those people involved because they’ve provided us with information on what’s needed in those donation bins. They’ve connected us with the Ukrainian National Federation so that we know what the best things we can do are. It’s easy to want to donate food and clothing, but what’s really needed is medical supplies.
