Royal Brinkman installs 'technical masterpiece' at Beekenkamp R&D

Royal Brinkman recently supplied the complete technical installation for the new Beekenkamp Research & Development Center at in Maasdijk, the Netherlands. Here, Royal Brinkman Techniek installed the water, electricity, and climate installation, as well as the hygiene. The main focus of the new building was to separate the Breeding and Elite departments from each other in terms of water systems, in order to prevent cross-contamination of diseases and pests at all times.

Beekenkamp Group is very pleased with the result and describes the new Research and Development Center as 'state of the art'. And not without reason. The hyper-modern new building of 22,000 m2 radiates professionalism and has been put into use by the Breeding and Research departments of the Beekenkamp Group's ornamental plant division. The project is a technical masterpiece' due to the construction of 28 separate cultivation departments. These departments are all controlled separately for watering, climate, and lighting. The water flows within the company are completely separated from start to finish. This means that the Breeding and Elite departments each have their own water system. The water technology implementation is very diverse due to the large variety of cultivation systems in the 28 cultivation departments; from drip irrigation on cultivation tables, an overhead sprinkler system, a high-pressure mist system to ebb and flow systems on concrete floors and cultivation tables.

Climate and electricity
Royal Brinkman also installed the complete climate and electricity system. A total of 7.8 km of power cables were drawn and connected to three main distributors. These main distributors provide the 28 cultivation departments with independent power supply, including the lighting installation in all cultivation areas, some of which are hybrid (HPS combined with LED lighting).

Hygiene and disinfection
A lot of attention has been paid to the hygiene protocol; Beekenkamp chooses hygiene sluices, UV disinfection and enrichment of the water with oxygen by two Moleaer Nanobubble installations. Huwasan TR-50 is used to disinfect the pipe system as well as the tables and floors.

Proud partner
Bas Brinkman, technical manager of Royal Brinkman: "We look back on a beautiful project where we were able to show our expertise. Together with our team, we did everything possible to meet the planning in a very short period of time, without making concessions in terms of quality. Thanks to the maximum effort of everyone and good mutual coordination, we succeeded. At Beekenkamp Group, innovation is of paramount importance and our motto 'Let's Improve Together' perfectly matches this."
