Despite the challenges, optimism prevails at Spring Fair Aalsmeer

Despite all the ongoing crises, the atmosphere at the Royal FloraHolland Spring Fair in Aalsmeer was convivial last week. There are also certain bright spots for optimistic plant growers: the stove and lamp can be turned down or completely off, spring will be here next week (fingers crossed) and inflation, you can mope about it, but what can you do about it?

Without belittling the very real concerns, both specific to horticulture and those affecting society as a whole, the visitors also seemed to be enjoying themselves. Busy is perhaps too strong of a word, but the hall was well filled (at least on Wednesday).

Ties Baltussen of Treehunter was of course at the fair again. Everyone who wanted to know more about Buxus, Taxus or Ilex came to see Ties. With Treehunter, he has a complete assortment from size 25 to size 80.

Thomas Staats of Mulders Sierteelt with a real garden orchid, the Lady Lilian. Thomas stood at the fair with his Inca Goldberry, Anna Maïs and the Lady Lilian.

Wilbert de Rijke of Wilbert de Rijke Potplanten kwekerij, with a beautiful pot of Ranunculus.
