Photo report: Dutch Spring Trials

It was not, as they always say, well-attended but simply busy. The various participants in the Dutch Spring Trials in the Kop van Noord-Holland area are all reported being booked for the day. Moreover, not only did the visitors come from all over Europe, but also from Turkey, America, and Japan.

Suzanne Kooi and Eva van der Cruijsen of PanAmerican Seed; Area Sales Manager Japan at Benary, Naoto Takamura; Chantal Groot, back office, and Marco Laan, Product Manager at Hem Genetics; and Dominic Lacay, director FloraNova.

Together with Takii and MNP from Aalsmeer, Syngenta Flowers/Floranova, Hem Genetics, ABZ Seeds, Prudac, and PanAmerican Seed presented the assortment in a more or less coordinated way (by FleuroSelect). Traditionally known as 'Pack Trials', this always takes place at this time of year, as it is the time of the spring flowering season.

Another difference with the FlowerTrials, which will be held in a month's time and in which practically all the major ornamental plant breeders participate, is that the 'show' element plays a less prominent role here. The emphasis is more on trials and comparison, on production, and 'honest' comparison with competitors' genetics. This also means that the trials, although public, are mainly visited by appointment.

Today, they will be closed (due to Liberation Day), on Friday, 6 May the doors will be open again.
