Vreugdenhil Bulbs & Plants donates part of proceeds to Zambian Carnivore Project

Today, grower Vreugdenhil Bulbs & Plants announces that another amount will be donated to the Zambian Carnivore Project. A total amount of €9,892 comes from a part of the sales proceeds of African Breeze. African Breeze is a grower's brand under which eight different potted plants are available. This particular selection of potted plants has in common that they are originally from the African continent. This donation is already the fourth in a row that the grower is donating to the project in Zambia.

Protection of wild animals
The grower makes a conscious choice to support a project like this. "Besides our strong connection to the continent as a company, we also see the need to do something back for nature. Last year, we came into direct contact with the ZCP and are informed of their results. For example, last year they tracked 336 lions in 58 groups, conducted 7,500 checks on traps, and trained 1,025 pastoralists in reducing carnivore conflict. The way conservation is approached through research, awareness, and education is very effective," says Jochem Vreugdenhil. "Protecting large carnivores and their ecosystems is of great importance and we are proud that we can contribute to that," adds Marjolijn Vreugdenhil.

Friends with meerkats
Vreugdenhil Bulbs & Plants has also adopted meerkats. No, not for the nursery, but in Diergaarde Blijdorp, one of the most famous zoos in the Netherlands. With this support, they provide a natural habitat for the meerkats.
