NL: Hoefnagels Nursery transfers assortment to Plant World

Hoefnagels Nursery, a grower of begonias under the Magic Colours brand name, is transferring the mother plants and grower's rights to Plant World (the former Van der Arend Tropical Plantcenter and JoGrow). The addition of this assortment means an addition to Plant World's current assortment.

Antoon Hoefnagels, founder and owner of Hoefnagels Nursery: "With the acquisition of Magic Colours Begonias from Hoefnagels by Plant World, we foresee a bright future for our beloved varieties. In this new setting, we see growth opportunities for Magic Colours and plenty of opportunities for further development and innovation. The choice for Plant World is mainly driven by the common interest in the assortment, attention to product quality, and the right price-quality ratio. In addition, Plant World has the right facilities to offer Magic Colours a new suitable, and modern home. For the benefit of a successful acquisition, I will remain closely involved in the coming period and, together with Plant World, ensure that the Magic Colours varieties will be successfully integrated into Plant World."

René van der Arend and John Grootscholten, the directors of Plant World: "With the acquisition of the mother plants and 35 breeder's rights of Hoefnagels, we give substance to the ambition to further expand the range with unique species. Antoon has a leading name in the world of leaf begonias, with a very good and solid customer base. In addition, there are opportunities to broaden our customer base because of the good contacts of Hoefnagels. On many fronts, there are synergy benefits to be achieved, and we can better fulfill the market potential. The leaf begonias will be grown at our new location on the Bonnenlaan. Finally, we are very pleased that Antoon wants to stay associated with our organization for the coming years."
