Logistics performance update: new staff and reduced supply

Royal FloraHolland's logistics performance has improved again in recent weeks compared to the last update, they announce on their blog. Partly because new employees have been hired and there is less supply. A step in the right direction, with room for further improvement. The quality of our daily service remains the priority number one. Together, we look back and ahead so you know what to expect in the coming period.

Product delivery is increasingly going as planned despite the continuing challenging situation. After all, today's market is more unpredictable than ever. We are struggling with sky-high energy and raw material prices. This has an impact on supply, as growers make the choice to heat and light less, for example. We now notice that the supply at all export locations has slowly decreased in volume in recent weeks. The impact of the staff shortage we are still struggling with is, therefore, less significant at the moment.

End times more stable
End times are more stable over the past three weeks. At all locations, finishing times are 30 to 60 minutes earlier compared to previous months. In addition, various adjustments in both distribution and order picking mean that the process is finished earlier. New employees are becoming better trained, which helps reduce errors. The handling of error messages, specifically in Naaldwijk, we are working hard on this, and we foresee improvement of the process in the short term. Mondays and Fridays remain the busiest days; on those days, the end times are still afternoon. Our search for staff will also continue in the coming period. We are not there yet and are working hard to meet expectations as much as possible.

The next challenge facing us is a big expected increase in supply in spring 2023. We need to anticipate this together as a sector if we want to offer more certainty of good logistics performance. We are working on scenarios and will sit down with growers and buyers. We will also keep you informed about these developments.

Regular update end times
We update the prognosis end times daily at 06.00 and 08.30 based on actual supply and available personnel. You can find the prognosis end times on the website and the RFH app, so you can connect your operations and processes to them.
