UK: Local MP visits Biotecture's headquarters

MP Gillian Keegan was shown around the West Sussex office and nursery last Friday to mark the 15th anniversary. The start was at Bosham office where Gillian was introduced to the team and shown examples of the projects.

Over the last 15 years they have helped to shape the green infrastructure industry, shifting the perception of living walls from a novelty landscaping feature into an accepted cladding material. They are proud to have worked with prestigious client such as Canary Wharf Group, The All England Lawn Tennis Club, and Transport for London.

Desinging
For 15 years Biotecture have specalised in designing, installing and maintaining green walls. Many of the living walls have remotely monitored irrigation systems. Operations Assistant Natasha explained to Gillian how we remotely control the duration, frequency and timing of the irrigation system in order to regulate the irrigation according to the needs of the plants throughout the year.

The hydroponic BioPanel living walls were planted up in the nursery and nurtured for 8-12 weeks before being installed on site. This means they look great from day one. Current projects in the nursery include over 1000sqm of living wall due to be installed on the new McArthuGlen Paris-Giverny Designer Outlet. The project includes 40 different species selected by pioneering French botanist Patrick Blanc. Flowering plants such as Erysium, Lavandula, and Jasminum will create an impressive seasonal display across the living wall.

Improving
Gillian said of the visit: “It was fantastic to meet Richard and the team from Biotecture and celebrate their 15th anniversary. “They create incredible living walls which are remarkable to look at and have a host of benefits including, improving air quality, and mental well-being – transforming indoor and outdoor spaces with beautiful plants.

Their creations made in the Chichester constituency can be seen across the UK, Europe, and the USA – they are another great example of how the UK is leading the world in green technologies.”

Biotecture’s MD said “It was a really useful and uplifting visit from our MP Gillian Keegan on Friday. It was good to see Gillian’s dedication to supporting local business. She was really impressed with all our operations and is now determined to support us by raising the issues that impact our business at Government level and wherever she can.”
