Trade Fair Aalsmeer: a hive of activity

It was buzzing with activity at Trade Fair Aalsmeer, which took place last week. As many as 20,000 people from more than 50 countries managed to find Europe's biggest floriculture fair. The mood was positive, despite the energy crisis. Visitors visibly enjoyed speaking to each other at length again.

There was much beauty and inspiration to be found. Companies in floriculture showed what they have been doing and making recently during the Trade Fair as usual. Some already gave a glimpse of the future, for instance, with new assortments. Striking or creative creations were on full display. Live chat about assortment, concepts, trade, energy prices, and everything else on the table. And that attracted many trade visitors. Last year, corona measures prevented many foreign visitors from coming; fortunately, they came in large numbers again this year. With 663 exhibitors, the fair was well-filled, and there was no shortage of eyes and ears.

Greenovation Award
The centerpiece between the two halls was the Royal FloraHolland House, where it was a continuous coming and going of people. The demo screens at Floriday were working overtime. At the Aalsmeer-Oost stand, visitors got a good idea of all the construction work currently taking place there. On the first day of the fair, CEO Steven van Schilfgaarde presented Hazeu Orchids with the Greenovation Award 2022.

Novelties in the spotlight
Next to the Royal FloraHolland House, you could also find our Novelty stand. Seeing is buying at these novelties. To make that buying easy for buyers, all beautiful, sustainable products were provided with a QR code. Scanning the QR code took them directly to the purchasing environment in Floriday, where buyers could find the product information as well as buy the beautiful products directly. Among the innovations presented were also the products of the finalists in the race for the Glazen Tulp Award. This Oscar-worthy award for the best market introduction will be presented on Thursday, 15 December, in the cut flowers, concepts, houseplants, and garden plants category.
