Van der Voort Youngplants and Deroose Plants USA together in Spathiphyllum

Van der Voort Youngplants of The Netherlands and Deroose Plants Inc, Apopka, Florida, have entered into an agreement to jointly introduce Spathiphyllum varieties in the North-American market AND to set up a breeding and testing program in Florida aimed at the growing conditions and customer preferences of growers and consumers in North-America.

Voort Potplants is the largest breeder and producer of liners and finished plants of Spathiphyllum in Europe. Voort has a big breeding program and acquired several other breeders in the past five years. Varieties have been developed, both from seed and tissue culture. It is truly a one-stop-shop for Spaths because a wide assortment is available for each pot size, ranging from 2” to 12”.

“Deroose is famous for its liner business in the United States. We think that the cooperation between our companies will certainly add a lot of value for growers in North-America,” says Olaf van der Voort, the owner of Voort Potplanten.

Deroose has developed into a large producer of liners for various crops. Via all sales channels, online and offline, customers all over North America are serviced. Since its start in 1994, Deroose has been selling liners of Spathiphyllum. The Voort assortment and the joint breeding will certainly boost sales and production.

“We were really looking for a partner to further develop the Spath market and introduce new varieties together. I am very happy with this milestone and foresee that we can really make a difference for our customers,” says Art Kirkland, account manager at Deroose.
