Voshol builds energy- and CO2-neutral 10,000m2 garden center

Last week, Voordeeltuincentrum Van der Spek chose the energy- and CO2-neutral installation solution of Voshol Warmte- en Elektrotechniek. Work will start as early as the first half of this year. Solar panels, charging poles, and LED lighting will be deployed, and there will be thermal storage.

Sustainable installations
Last week, Martien van der Spek, owner of Voordeeltuincentrum Van der Spek, signed for the tender from Voshol Warmte en Elektrotechniek. The construction of the new garden center focuses on sustainability. It will include 875 solar panels to generate its own energy, a heat and cold storage system for heating and cooling the garden center, 38 charging stations, including four fast chargers, and LED lighting throughout.

Gas-free business
In order to do business without gas, a heat pump was chosen in combination with a closed-source system. In winter, the garden center is heated, and the cold is stored in the ground. In summer, this cold is brought back up, making the garden center feel more pleasant on hot summer days.

Piling
The past few months were used to prepare the ground for construction. Piling is expected to start in April. The new garden center will be built by Nobutec of Wateringen. If all goes well, the new garden center will open in early 2024.
