KF Bioplants names two new gerbera varieties and Best Grower of 2023

KF Bioplants is one of the pioneers in introducing gerbera as a commercially successful cut flower variety in India in the 90s, and on February 27, they organized a grand event at Hotel Pride in Bangalore to launch new gerbera varieties, and at the same time, a naming ceremony took place awarding KF Bioplants' Best Grower of 2023.

Selection
KF Bioplants always keep its' growers at the center while selecting the varieties of gerberas. "Selection depends upon many factors such as plant architecture (growth habits), production, color, size n shape of petals, stem length, vase life, resistance to pest n disease, etc."

They give the selected gerberas Indian names. "Since we value our growers, we enjoy naming vibrant selection with Indian names of growers who do remarkable work in this field as a recognition. The names get registered at International Floricode and commercialized globally; this is a matter of pride for us, our growers, and India."

Naming Ceremony
KF Bioplants organized a grand event on February 27, 2023, at Hotel Pride in Bangalore to launch new arrivals of gerbera varieties, the naming ceremony, and awarding Best Grower Award for 2023. The event was attended by over 150 growers, friends, and families of growers. "This was a wonderful way of celebration of new arrivals and naming ceremony," said Kishore Rajhans (Director), Ashish Phadke (GM Marketing), Al Siva Prakash (Regional Manager of South India), AmuthaMurugan( Executive Marketing South) and Bajirao Kale (Technical Executive).

There were two varieties named after two growers. "They have had an immense contribution to the growth of KF Bioplants and the industry in India."

Variety Moksha Sree
The first variety named is Moksha Sree, named after the daughter of Mr. Srikanth Bollapally, who is an entrepreneur who came from a village in Telangana, bordering Maharashtra. He founded Omsrisai Flowers and Vensai Floritech, which are two companies that are specialized in greenhouse and open-field cultivation of a wide variety of flowers, including gerbera, roses, chrysanthemum, carnations, limonium, gypsophilla, hydrangeas, snapdragons, celosias, and many more. He is also one of the largest flower traders in the country.

Mr. Srikanth is one of the key personnel in the foundation of "The Growers' Flower Council of India" (GFCI), and he is today doing remarkable work in flower promotion in India as "President of GFCI."

So, Moksha Sree is the name of his beloved daughter. "KF Bioplants is dedicating the most vibrant colored Gerbera variety to the unmatched and unwavering accomplishments of Mr. Srikanth as "Moksha Sree"! As his daughter is close to his heart; the gerbera close to his heart!"

Variety Manjunatha
The other variety is named Manjunatha, named after Mr. Manjunatha, a young grower and entrepreneur born in a farmer's family and currently lives in a joint family at Anekal, Bangalore Rural.

His core occupation is floriculture (flower growing). He started this activity with 1 acre of Gerbera farming in 2009. Over the course of 12 years, today, he has expanded the operations to 10 acres of protected cultivation, 8 acres fully dedicated to gerbera, and 2 acres to Gypsophilla.

"Mr. Manjunatha is one of the strong pillars of KF Bioplants in sales n promotion of Gerbera varieties of KF Bioplants in his area. To recognize his valuable efforts in establishing success stories of KF Bioplants; we are dedicating the Pink color variety; the most beautiful one, as Manjunatha!"

The Best Grower of KF Bioplants for 2023
Mr. Munivenkatappa was awarded The Best Grower of KF Bioplants 2023. He began his journey in 2000 with a career in a greenhouse, being in charge of cultivating gerbera and roses. "The spirit of entrepreneurship did not allow him to settle, and in 2005 he started his own operations leasing a 1/2 acre greenhouse for cut flower production." Today he has reached a milestone of 38 acres; 20 acres for roses and 18 acres for gerberas. "He is known for his quality flowers and reliable supplier for consistent deliveries."

"KF Bioplants is proud of his accomplishments, and to recognize his efforts, we would like to bestow on him "The Best Grower Award for the year 2023."
