Plantarium|Groen-Direkt’s novelties inspection now also in June

At Plantarium|Groen-Direkt, everything revolves around garden plants, and that’s why the fair organizes several novelties inspections. New this year will be the Best KVBC Novelty inspection that will take place during the Groen-Direkt’s Summer Days in June – the ideal time for the inspection of plants that will then be at their best in terms of growth and flowering.

“After last year’s Autumn Fair, we talked to various parties about organizing novelties inspections during the Plantarium|Groen-Direkt fairs. Those talks revealed a desire for an extra inspection by the KVBC, the Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society, only not in February, when many plants are still in their winter dormancy, but in June, the best time for them in terms of growth and flowering. The conclusion was that combining the inspection with Groen-Direkt’s Summer Days would create an ideal platform to present the submitted plants. This fair is always visited by garden plant buyers from within and outside the Netherlands – an ideal public to which to present your novelty,” explains fair director Linda Hoogendoorn-Veelenturf.

Best KVBC Novelty
Growers whose many years of selection and breeding have resulted in a new cultivar that’s ready for the market and for presentation to an international professional public and that they’d like to have inspected by an expert, the independent jury are invited to submit their product for the Best KVBC Novelty inspection that will take place on 12 and 13 June. The KVBC jury in question will visually inspect the plants to evaluate aspects of their ornamental value, such as the color of their flowers, their flowering time and period, the color of the foliage, the plant’s shape, etc., but also properties such as health, propagation and possibilities of use. This June inspection is intended for growers who want to call attention to their new species and cultivars. More information on rates and how to submit your product can be found at Plantarium|Groen-Direkt’s website.

Three inspection moments
Plantarium|Groen-Direkt’s addition of this Best KVBC Novelty evaluation in June has now led to three inspection moments. Participants can choose when to submit their plants for inspection and in which evaluation. The three inspection moments and associated evaluations are as follows:

  • Plantarium|Groen-Direkt’s Spring Fair: Visitors’ Favourite
  • GROEN-Direkt’s Summer Days: Best KVBC Novelty
  • Plantarium|Groen-Direkt’s Autumn Fair: Visitors’ Favourite, Best KVBC Novelty, and Best Market Introduction.
