NL: Dutch MP wants to stop further growth of heated greenhouses

Leonie Vestering, MP for the Dutch Party for the Animals, has tabled a motion against further growth in the area of heated greenhouses. She did so on March 22. The motion will be debated on March 28.

The PvdD MP points out that despite investments and subsidies for energy-saving measures, the greenhouse horticulture sector's CO2 emissions will have increased by 2021, partly because the area of heated greenhouses has grown. It considers this "not an efficient use of taxpayers' money" and calls on the government to put a stop to further growth of the area of heated greenhouses.
