US (CT): Tulip farm in Preston opens for the season with over 700,000 blooms

Preston's pick-it-yourself tulip farm is open for the season as of April 19, with over 700,000 blooms ready to be picked.

Wicked Tulips Flower Farm is a seasonal flower farm with three locations throughout New England: two in Rhode Island and one in Connecticut. The Preston location is Wicked Tulips' largest and newest farm; it opened in 2021 in response to the success of the Rhode Island farms.

The tulip farm's Connecticut location grows over 150 different varieties of bulbs in a different colors, and the flowers grow on over 5 acres of land. Wicked Tulips releases a farm-specific bloom report that is periodically updated so guests can gauge the status of tulips before they go.

According to Wicked Tulips' website, the "u-pick" season only lasts for a few weeks in the spring and is expected to close sometime mid-May, "depending on Mother Nature." In addition to tulip picking, the farm offers yoga classes in the tulip fields, mini wellness retreats, and other tulip-centric events.
