Plantec’s open house and guest speaker:

"It marked an important event for South American rose growers"

Last month, Plantec Ecuador hosted its annual open house event, which was attended by approximately 400 people. "We showed the newest rose varieties, provided an excellent opportunity to network, and had several surprises in store. All in all, it marked an important event for South American rose growers", says Plantec's Aviram Krell.

Guests were able to walk through the experimental greenhouses in Plantec, learning about the selection process for new varieties and experiencing the research and development programs that make up the core of Plantec's innovation strategy firsthand.

The new vase life testing room was also open for their guests, showcasing not only the new commercial varieties but also the new collection that will begin to be available in early 2024.

Plantec was also extremely fortunate to be able to host and welcome Deborah Zoellick, the recently appointed director of floral of IFPA.

"Deborah was a star at the Plantec open house, hosting a presentation and Q&A session for the growers. In her lecture, Deborah presented data on market trends, consumer tendencies, retail preferences, and much much more. We at Plantec want to take this opportunity to thank Deborah once more for her time and energy, the open house would not have been the same without her."

Also, many new upcoming varieties made their debut in the open house. "And the overall feeling that we saw within the industry is positive. The importance of roses in these times has only grown, and we see the challenges we face as an industry as opportunities not only to grow ourselves but also innovate the market with longer-lasting roses, intense colors, and better, healthier plants."
