Ubink family business future-proofed with entry of new generation

Since its establishment in 1927, the steadily growing commercial nursery Ubink on Mijnsherenweg in Kudelstaart has passed from generation to generation. In the late 1980s, brothers Gert, Edwin and John slowly took over from their father, Gerard Ubink, who in turn took over from his uncles and aunt. And now, 30 years later, the next generation steps in.

John Ubink, Bas Ubink, Gert Ubink, Hanneke Ubink and Edwin Ubink.

Hanneke and Bas Ubink officially joined the management team with effect from 25 April. Initially, these two young directors will support the work of the existing management team. In the coming months, Hanneke and Bas will further roll out their new positions.

Little has changed in the strategy over the past 30 years. "Together, we want to bring the most beautiful cacti and succulents into European living rooms and we will certainly continue to do so," they reveal.

There are plenty of challenges and opportunities within the growing company with, in addition to a location in Kudelstaart, a production site on Tenerife (Canary Islands), says the management team. "We are all looking forward to this challenge. We hope to make the company ready for another 30 years."
