Plastic films play a key role in filtering solar radiation, changing the climatic conditions inside the greenhouse. There are various ways of filtering out the sun, affecting cultivation in different ways, and determining the final quality of the crop.

How a greenhouse plastic film cover works
The amount of light entering the greenhouse is obviously important, as it stimulates the photosynthesis process. However, if it is not properly diverted, especially in climatic areas with medium to high solar radiation, it could have negative effects on the development of the plants. Phenomena such as scorching or excessively vertical development and an increase in the distance between internodes may occur. To avoid these problems, we often opt for light-diffusing films based on mineral fillers, which, by deflecting the sun's rays inside the greenhouse, allow an even distribution of light.
The polytunnel on the right is covered with Aralux plastic film, achieving maximum brightness, diffusion, and thermal insulation. The exceptional quality of the materials used ensures that Aralux maintains these characteristics for the entire time of its use.
In this case, however, it is essential to make use of extremely thin, high-quality mineral fillers, which would otherwise cause a significant loss of brightness and reduce the benefits of light diffusion.
Finally, there is the IR (infrared) barrier component, which determines the thermal insulating capacity of the film. Without the latter, keeping the greenhouse warm at night and absorbing rising temperatures during the day would be impossible.
Aralux by Agriplast: a high-performance film
Thanks to its 50 years of experience in the sector and its technological know-how, the company Agriplast S.p.a. has created a film combining the best of the above-mentioned characteristics called Aralux.
The best mineral fillers available on the market were used in the construction of Aralux. Thanks to their characteristics, it is possible to achieve very high brightness (transmittance ≥ 87%) and, at the same time, very high light diffusion (diffusion ≥ 65%).
Finally, Aralux has an extremely high IR barrier (IR Barrier ≥ 93%), the highest available on the market. This allows ideal thermal insulation of the greenhouse.

The combination of these features makes Aralux an extremely versatile and high-performance all-weather film. It provides an ideal microclimate for the growing crops and ensures a high amount of light while maintaining temperatures as constant as possible.
