New breeding location commissioned after fire

NL: Open day attracts many local residents to new Takii building

Almost two years ago, Takii's production and breeding location in Sint-Annaland, the Netherlands, went up in flames. Many local residents helped the breeding company during and after the fire, but contacts also revealed that it was far from clear what Takii was all about. This prompted the breeding company to open the doors of its new building to local residents on Saturday, August 26.

Takii immediately took advantage of the new building to scale up the establishment. Instead of two smaller sheds, a 40 by 40-metre hall was built, and the office space was also expanded.

This made it possible to expand breeding activities and scale up seed production and seed cleaning, especially for Takii's 'SAHIN Home Garden' range.

"The emphasis of this location is on the flower assortment for the hobby market," says location manager Christa Gaakeer-Hage, who has worked at the Sint-Annaland location since 1991. She is happy that the breeding company has returned to its old stronghold for drying, cleaning, and shipping flower seed after "two tough years." With the new facilities, fine cleaning will also be taken up for the first time this year.

The open day attracted many visitors from local residents, who, despite the rain, wanted to know what was behind the doors of the breeding company. In the evening, flower growers who grow flowers on contract for the Japanese breeding company were invited.
