India: Bihar government's big push to increase farmers’ income, especially Marigold cultivation

Farmers in Bihar are engaging in horticulture on a vast scale to reap rich dividends. With more and more farmers getting involved in rose and marigold cultivation, the income of the farmers has increased significantly.

The farmers are getting inclined to the horticulture business as there is a huge demand for flowers not only in Bihar but also outside the state.

The Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government wants more farmers to get involved in the cultivation of flowers in the state. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has decided to provide monetary benefits to attract more farmers to the flower business.

The Bihar government believes that flower is a cash crop, and if the farmers of the state cultivate flowers, then their income will increase.

The Nitish Kumar-led regime has launched the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission scheme, under which it will be giving bumper subsidies to the farmers cultivating flowers.
