The Phalaenopsis is known for its long shelf life. Yet taking care of this plant correctly proves to be a challenge for many consumers. To make watering easier, elho and The Orchid Growers have joined forces. Together, they have developed a sustainable ornamental pot, especially for orchids: the vibes orchid.
"The vibes orchid is an innovative ornamental pot. Not only because the size of the vibes orchid is tailored to the orchid growing pot, it also has an integrated watering system. This allows the orchid to supply itself with the right amount of water and prevents overwatering. Something consumers are really looking for," says Henk de Jong, commercial manager of The Orchid Growers. "Besides the convenience offered by the vibes orchid, it is also a sustainable choice. The pot is made of 100% recycled plastic and is fully recyclable. The pot is also available in three trendy colours."
The collaboration between elho and The Orchid Growers has been logical choice, they say. "Whereas elho is the largest supplier of sustainable flower pots, the Phalaenopsis is product number one in flowering houseplants. We both saw the struggle with care as an opportunity," says Bas van de Veer, lead design elho. The vibes orchid is available now. A display has been developed for retail that can be used in shops to inspire and inform consumers about the vibes orchid.
