30% of Dutch growers had to face the energy crisis without a fixed energy contract

30% of growers had to face the energy crisis without a fixed energy contract. Energy prices were subject to changes, and there was limited to no flexibility with the energy supply. About 25% of greenhouse growers were in a good position in terms of energy supply, with largely fixed energy prices and opportunities for flexible use of the energy supplies, often from mixed sources - (CHP with natural gas and alternative heat sources).

About 45% of greenhouse horticulture companies had a partially strong position, with about half of the energy prices fixed and limited opportunities to use energy facilities flexibly, as revealed by research on the consequences of the high energy prices in greenhouse horticulture conducted by WUR.
