One of the oldest Westland greenhouse horticulture companies, Hofland Flowering Plants, will celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2024. The greenhouse business was established on October 20, 1899, by Jan Hofland. Now, the fifth generation is at the helm: brother Frank and sister Annemiek. The fourth generation, father Goos and uncle Peter, contribute from the sidelines to share their knowledge and experience. The third generation, Grandpa Frans (91 years old) and Grandma Jeanne (87 years old) are still witnessing this remarkable milestone.

Since the second generation (1960), Hofland Flowering Plants has been located on Lange Broekweg in Naaldwijk. Over the years, the company has expanded by purchasing adjacent plots to a total area of 6 hectares. Since 1970, the main crop has been the Christmas cactus ('Schlumbergera'), supplemented with different crops in the spring. 30 colleagues work at the Hofland family business, which is known for being a social family business.

2024: "Let's celebrate together"
Under the slogan 'Let's celebrate together,' a series of celebrations are planned in 2024 with the team, customers, suppliers, neighboring residents, fellow growers, and last but not least, the Hofland family. To commemorate the 125th anniversary, a festive plant sleeve for the Schlumbergera has been developed, which will find its way to consumers starting January 2024.
